Safe drinking water is a growing concern, especially for private well owners in SE Minnesota and for water quality in our springs and trout streams. Almost 1/3 of households rely on their own private water systems and the water quality at their kitchen sink is a concern for every household served by a private well.
For the fifth year in a row the National Trout Center has hosted a nitrate testing clinic for wells and the water in our trout streams and springs.
If you want to participate bring your water sample from wells or from streams and springs in a clean plastic or glass container. We only need a cup or less of water and the samples will be analyzed while you wait.
Refreshment will be available and private well experts from the Minnesota Well Owners Organization and water experts from the Fillmore County SWCD will be happy to answer your questions about our water resources.
