Fillmore County Social Services has banded together with other mental health professionals to help build awareness of mental health and resiliency. The team consists of: NAMI Southeast Minnesota, Zumbro Valley Health Center, Hiawatha Valley Mental Health, and CREST Adult Mental Health Initiative.
The month of May is Mental Health Awareness month and our team decided to host an event regarding suicide awareness by showing the documentary of Suicide The Ripple Effect. This film chronicles the story of Kevin Heines, who at the age of 19 attempted suicide by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge and lived to tell about his story. He since, has been actively using his story to help others stay alive and find recovery.
On May 15th, 2019 at 6:00pm the Fillmore County Mental Health Collaborative Team will be playing this movie at the JEM Theatre in Harmony, MN. Crisis Response for Southeast Minnesota will have mobile responders present to answer any questions and there will be listed resources made available.
