A Military focus…
Day 1 – Honoring Our Veterans
- Visit the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery: see beautiful memorial areas and monuments while learning about the stories of service represented.
- Tour (by appointment) the Minnesota Veterans Home. Fun Fact: Preston is the only city in MN with both a Veterans Cemetery and Veterans Home. For a tour call (507) 808- 8910.
- End your day at The Club, a neighborhood bar home to the American Legion and VFW.
Day 2 – Service, History & Community
- Check out the “Fillmore At War” exhibit at the Fillmore County Museum in Fountain, MN.
- View the Army Tank Memorial, a powerful landmark honoring military service and sacrifice.
- Dinner: the grilled Salmon at the Branding Iron or a burger from B&B Olympic Bowl.
Day 3 – Local History
- Grab a mocha from Lucky Mud, inside a historic brick building, formerly a bank, then do the Historic Walking Tour of downtown Preston.
- Head down the hill on Fillmore St to the Depot Museum and Riverfront Center to view a collection of historical artifacts and a two headed car. View the “Historical Campus” just across the street.
- On your way out of town, order a tasty Maid-Rite from The Sweet Stop and Sandwich Shoppe.
