Ron & Marilyn Schreier Named Grand Marshals of the 2023 Preston Trout Days Parade

PRESTON, Minnesota, April 24, 2023—Ron and Marilyn Schreier will serve as the Grand Marshals for the upcoming Trout Days parade on May 20, 2023.

Schreiers have been active members of their community, contributing their time and effort to various organizations and events. They moved to Preston in 1990 so Ron could take over Major & Company, Marilyn’s father’s business, allowing Gene Major to retire and spend time with his wife.

Ron enjoys hunting and fishing during his free time and likes to hike when visiting Arizona over Labor Day each year. Marilyn enjoys scrapbooking and card making. They both also enjoy spending time with their kids. Their daughter, Anna, and son-in-law Nathan reside in Queen Creek, AZ, while their son, Chris, and future daughter-in-law Rachel reside in Bell Plain, MN.

Marilyn has been an active members of various community organizations, including the Fillmore County Relay For Life, where she has been team captain for Major Heroes since 2010. She has also been involved in the planning of the Relay for Life events in both Preston and Fountain. In addition, Marilyn has volunteered to assist the Fillmore County 4-H groups during the fair and pork chop dinner.

In 2012, Marilyn served as an MS ambassador for the Rochester Walk MS, demonstrating her commitment to raising awareness and support for those affected by multiple sclerosis. In addition, Marilyn has actively contributed to community events such as Trout Days, where she assisted with the food stands, and has also helped the Scheevel family with the concession stand at the ball diamond for many years when her son Chris was playing softball.

Ron was active in the Preston Fire Department for 20 years as a fireman and treasurer before retiring. He currently serves on the Preston Ambulance, providing essential emergency medical services to the community. Ron has also won top sales for the ambulance steak fry at Trout Days for two years in a row, with Marilyn’s help in selling all his tickets. Ron has also been a part of the Preston Lion’s Club for 25 years and has participated as secretary and has volunteered at countless community events. He was also on the church council as treasurer for many years at Christ Lutheran Church.  Both Ron and Marilyn have also been active members of the Christ Lutheran Church in various committee roles.

Overall, the Schreiers have been exemplary members of their community, actively contributing to various organization and events over the years. The entire Preston community is a better place because of people like the Schreiers.
